On this world, for better or for worse, order seems most often preferred
to chaos, and truth to fiction.
Could I have made this not so long winded? The answer is; of course I
could! But in making this long winded, there can be no misconceived ideas
or misunderstanding of what I want and don't want in G.C.E. Like other sites, G.C.E.
rejects those who misrepresent Gor as a style of B.D.S.M., and those who
hide behind Gor to justify
misogynistic abuse.
How this site is set up,
Why this site came to being,
And why I think it is a good way of things for online and for Gor
specifically.
If you don't like to read, then this will be a waste of your time.
● One of first things at present that you might note, is that;
G.C.E. is a Private Member site. In so much as... while yes, members pay
money for their account, the site itself is made private to wit;
A.
Unless you are a paid member of G.C.E., you won’t be able to travel to or view all the
rooms. You will not be able to be but in the main rooms of the site or the
one's you may get invited to, and you won’t be able to sit and watch the
“see all”, nor will you be able to travel arbitrarily to other rooms. And
all of its paying members are encouraged (note; I said encouraged, not
demanded or dictated) to make their rooms unavailable to non members, by
blocking unregistered handles if they want their rooms listed in the
G.C.E. site map at this particular time. I do reserve the right to change
this and with probability I will..
B.
All paying members have full service capabilities that Hyperchat offers.
They can see the “seall”, (but at present, I have not made a solid
determination in this matter) and have full movement within the site to
other members homes (rooms) and of course, have the advantages of all the
tools and available rooms to build that Hyperchat offers. Non Members do
not have these capabilities, nor can they see the seeall.
● An elaboration on the above.
You will notice as you read below, that one basic premise in G.C.E. is;
to have a place where gor will happen and
order, not chaos will prevail. I, the owner of G.C.E. am adamant about
this.
By limiting the flow of people in the site who are not paying
members, but are just visitors, to only the
main/site rooms, my hope is to cut down on many of the things seen in the
other Hyperchat gor sites. Is there a better way? Perhaps... but at
present, this is my solution.
Since I have no council to help me neither decide things, nor have enough
help to guard, nor have enough males in the site, in order to converse with
them on matters of such things, I have but only myself to decide. Does it
mean I want to be a dictator? No, not necessarily. But I do and will
dictate some things that I am fervent about. I am fervent about keeping
the chaos to a bare minimum.
Was
there chaos on gor? Sure! When the Kur got the Gorean's in a tizzy, there
was much chaos. If some raiding party started a raid, that city was
certainly in a state a chaos. But the planet as a whole was not. Nor will
this site be as a whole.
●
Anonymity
Everyone (unless you are using your real birth given name), enters online
chat sites anonymously. Your made up anonymous name really isn't as
important as your behavior though. This is not to say, that I want people
coming into the site changing their anonymous names as in what has been
termed dualing or even gender bending. On the contrary! I expect people to use one name that
everyone can know them by, and under that name, just like you do with your
rt name, will have to endure all things good or bad based upon your
behavior, typed words, and action via those words. I for instance have been known by the anonymous
name of Rask for some 11or so years, and since I am a male I have never
tried to cross that gender line. I have made more than my share of
enemies and a few good acquaintances with this name. I am a character all
right, but my name is an anon handle I use and I use it, not just here,
but everywhere I go online. Anyone that says different, either is a liar
or doesn't know me well. Those that do know of me, know well I have no
problem stating my opinion and thought using this same anon name I have
had. Even my enemies have made comment of it.
● A little
about RP and such
In a Gor site, your Gorean behavior is what matters as far as I'm
concerned. Gorean's, despite the banality gray area statements
people have tried to create in order to try to defer others thought of
what Gor is, did not try to kill one another on a daily basis in anyway.
Certainly any type of individual that walked into a homestone and tried
to harm it in anyway, was certainly done away with. Killing Gorean
citizens though, is not what Norman was trying to show people in his books. They
didn't stand and bicker like hens in a hen house either with one another.
They didn't try to demean, slander, or attempt character assassination of
one another, unless they were willing to die over the matter. Even if
you are correct about someone... if they best you in word or are able to
defend themselves with reasonable doubt, then you loose. Unlike most other sites of Gor, dieing in
this site means you leave it! So if you don't want that to happen, then
it is good advice to be careful with your words and who you attack with
those words. If you’re willing to be killed online, which means you
will have no more account or access to this Gorean online place, it is good advice to be
careful. The typed words of online are the steel that otherwise would have be brandished.
on the planet Gor if it existed. They can be used to attack or defend.
And they can cut deeply. You will be judged by your word and perceived
overall behavior, by your peers here and should they vote you out and dead,
then it will be so. Of course based on good reason and judgment.
It is up to you the individual, to prove you are for Gor, willing to do
Gor and want Gor. How you do that, is by your actions and behavior while
in this site. Not just because you try to make a Broadway hit out of it
all. It doesn't matter to me, the owner, if you are just an rper
or rt either. The only thing that does matter, is if you are doing Gor all the
time, everywhere and place, while in the site and as I stated
already...behave in a Gorean manner; be you, self claiming free or
whatever. Once you leave this gorean world I could care less how you
behave and act. I, the owner of G.C.E., do not fall prey to any distinctions
between O.C.C/ IC (out of character/in character) thinking and or the dilemmas
that come with it either. There is no separation. The so called rp character you
play, is created by you, played out by you and it has all elements
of behavior (good or bad), thought and typed actions by you, the
individual sitting in that computer chair.. It's you! I won't argue
or debate with you over it either!
Gor, while not a real planet, was populated with humans, not some freak
aliens like the Klingons of Star Trek, although there were the Kur and
Priest Kings. But it was more populated by humans. While the planet doesn't exist or have a place
out in our cosmos, it is a real place in the emotions, behaviors and
thought of real people. Gor sites exist and real people go to them, some
of them actually even try to hold on to and behave and act Gorean! So all
of it makes Gor alive and very real. Since this is a fact and reality, we
have now taken Science Fiction and made it Science Fact! Since it is a
reality that people follow the Gorean ways, then Gor is no longer fiction,
but reality. People being in a Gor site and behaving Gorean, makes it
Gorean real. If you don't agree with this, then turn and leave NOW! Gor is
not just a mere play act nor a show on a Broadway hit parade.
Once you enter the site, you are, for all practical purposes, on Gor, so
do and behave as a Gorean. You've made the choice of your own free will
to get on the silver ship as it were, and have landed on Gor, so I expect
everything, from discussion, to what one plays at being, to follow Gorean
protocols, ideals, Gorean ethics and so on throughout the site. In
discussions and even in debates. If you don't know how to behave, then get
with someone that can tell you and show you. If you don't like that way,
then you can leave. You can whine about these things that you don't like
to others that lie and say they want Gor but really don't want Gor. They'll lend you a solemn ear to cry in
without a doubt, and you'll be in the more popular company of people for
you then.
There are whispers and personal mail for talking things out. If you have
issue with someone, you have choices even in Gor, hire an assassin via rp,
get in a play game sword fight and kill them in rp. The more simple and easy way to deal with a
perceived enemy to or of you, is to simply close your place off to them or stay
clear of that individual, thereby,
you have killed them from participation within your place and with you. Gorean protocol
also means that if you are in G.C.E. as a slave, then you will address all
free properly following Gorean protocol EVERYWHERE in every room, even in
discussion rooms, ALL THE TIME, EVERY WHERE. I don't care if you're just rping,
I don't care what you are allowed in your homestone either. I don't care
what you are allowed in your city or state via the laws and rules there.
You are, once you click the link button to enter this Gor site or one of
it's houses or homestones, for all
intentions and purposes, are on the planet Gor and you will behave Gorean
proper
dependent upon your self chosen station! It's my Gor
site it's my "Tor To Gor" and it's the way it will be. Go to your own home
if you don't like it.
In G.C.E., rp correctly and Gorean right if that is what
you are here for and stop whining. If you don't
like it! Then don't stay in this Gorean chat site. Think I'm dictating the
way you'll be here! You win the booby prize! In this, I am, it's my site,
and it’s a Gorean specific site! If you don't like it, surf somewhere
else. This site and the things that take place in it will be Gorean one
way or the other!
"The meaning of history lies not in the future. It is like a range of
mountains with many summits. Great deeds are the meaning of history. There
are many meanings and many summits. One may climb different mountains at
different times, but each mountain glows in the same sun."
(Beasts of Gor, p.33)
My analogy of this Gor parable is; that it means that the people in the
world or Gor , may and do have many differences (many summits), but
even the sites future can only be had if; everyone of the site falls under
the same ideal... that being the Gorean idea. No doubt each individual
will be at different levels in their understanding Gor (one may climb
different mountains at different times), But they all come to this Gorean
site under the Gorean ways in things . People that don't really
want the ideas of Gor to follow, should not be in a Gor site, and if they
try to bring too much change to the Gorean world via their verbal sword,
then it is up to all of the whole Gor to bare their sword against them.
You may have your homes in your specific chosen society of Gor, but you
live, while online, under the same sun. It's called, United Under Gorean
Ideals. "Tor
to Gor !"
An elaboration on the “seeall” issue.
When I look at a site such as these in Cyber Help Inc., specifically the
Gorean specific sites, I view the whole site, as the whole planet of Gor
in a sense. Within or on that planet, are the cities, towns, camps etc.
(members create these places). Within these cities, towns and places,
there are Gorean homes (the actual rooms that members also create and
own). Now it is of my opinion that what may happen in a person’s home is
their business, and only their business… except for their acquaintances
that they want to share their home with. No one for instance of an
example, has sex with their front door open so that the whole of the
general populace can sit and watch! Well they don't unless they happen to have a
freaky fetish and are of the B.D.S.M. voyeur faction.
The “see all”, in my opinion, is the place where everyone’s front door is
opened to the whole of the general populace of online Gor, and everything,
in a
person’s online home that is taking place, can be seen there from the "see
all". I, the owner
of G.C.E., am the one in charge of that door and at present, I have left
it open for members only, but I am indecisive about it as I said. I've grown
quite fed up with the things I see in the other Hyperchat gor sites, on
their boards and in some of the rooms.
I do realize also, that each paying member has a place where they can make
their rooms private in their controls, which will close their places off,
even to the see all. But doing that, also locks the door to paying members
for a chance to come and participate with them unless a pass word is
provided.
All in all, right now, everyone's front door is open to paying members. I
leave it to the room owner to do what they will. But know this! I don't
want to see garbage about what someone is doing in their home pasted on
any of the site corks or rooms. I see it, I get rid of it. If it
continues, I'll take more aggressive action.
There is a site map.
From the site map, a member can travel to an individual’s home. The only
thing is... is that you can’t see what is taking place within that
person’s home before you get to it (IE: staring at the see all). Once you
get there to the individual room, you still don’t have to type in the
room, unless you want to and you can still sit and watch what’s going on
in that room to determine if you want to participate in that place.
Like I said; in this issue, I am very much indecisive on what to do if
anything. I am indecisive because I do know that people, for whatever their
individual reason is, likes the see all that Hyperchat offers. But I also
know from years of experience in Hyperchat, that it's been as bad a tool
as a gun is in the hands of the wrong type persons. There are individuals
who do nothing for a site at all or for Gor, but rather sit and watch the
“seeall” like a larl stalking a kill or a sniper sitting in the trees just
waiting for their pray to do/type something they can use against them.
Once this predator sees something of interest to them, they grab hold of
it, drag it off to a cork, and try to rip it (the words of an individual
or that person personally) to pieces using what site members they can get
to sympathize with them as their teeth. If you have a personal issue with
someone you don't like, then either get it resolved in private or hush!
It's your business and your concern, not everyone's.
So closing the see all to non members, it does have the potential to at least cut
some of this predatory behavior out.
Remember, one of the primary things about Gor and its people is; that they
believe in truth and honesty, especially about oneself.
I say this, because all too often, those that are the predatory type
mentioned, tell others either only half truths (or they really don't know
what is going on), outright lie and I've even witnessed things made up
about their pray. Most of them, can't be honest enough about them self, to
accept, that they really don't agree with Gor nor really like its ways or
know and understand that they do not belong in a Gor site. They won't be
honest enough with them self and see that they are being predatory. And
even if they do see it and are honest with them self, they simply don't
care. Their ethics, self integrity and respect of others is simply
nonexistent. The term "barbarian" fits them equally as it would on Gor.
● The second thing you might note is that:
Unlike the other sister sites of Cyber Help Inc., the name of a paying
member, isn’t automatically added to the people list. Only members which
specifically specify that they want their name added to this list, will
have them listed. All other members names will not be listed. So again,
there is no reason for that larl I spoke about above, needing to be
sitting around watching the people list to see how many members G.C.E.
has. It's no one’s business, and Gor isn't based upon how populated it is
anyway. It isn't fundamental for being a Gorean place. Gorean ways and
behavior is what makes a site either Gorean or not.
● There is one free open cork to members within the site itself at
present, and that is the “slavecork” (this may change, but a non member
cannot view it or type in it even now). There is a site type cork, but it
is off site and requires that everyone, both member and non-member,
register to it in order to be able to participate in it. It too is
monitored closely. As you can tell, I don't have much care at all for free
speech, if said free speech is the equal of someone standing off in the
bushes using high powered words (equal to being an unseen sniper with a
high powered rifle, shooting at folks, trying to harm or kill them) to try
and harm someone. I will not tolerate attempted
character assignation of anyone.
This all hopefully, will cut down on those vile creatures that sit around
in their computer chairs like a vulture waiting on something or someone
they don't like, so they can derive drama and run to a cork and try to
slander them like they do from the see
all too.
● The next thing you might note, is that if you are a non member of
G.C.E., your IP address is shown to everyone, and if you are a member of
G.C.E., it does not show. This is to cut down predators that come in to
spew their venom and vile and then run to reconnect again so their I.P.
will change to hide themselves. Showing I.P.'s exposes those people I term
as "bad elements". And it allows all paying members a choice to identify
these sorts and to place them on ignore if it is their desire. You can
read more about this IP issue here on the
Usage Agreement
at the bottom of that page and more on why the I.P. issue.
So why is it set up this way?
Aww the reasons are numeral. I’ll do some explaining as a courtesy, but it
really doesn’t matter if you agree with the whys or not. It’s the way it
is, and I, the owner of G.C.E., think it is good for anyone who loves the
ways of Gor, wants a more peaceful solution to many of the problems seen
that are witnessed in the other Gor sites, especially those associated
within Hyperchat.com, and has a desire to maintain the Gorean mantel.
Another
basic premise I have for G.C.E., is for it to be as Gorean as it can be
for and while online.
To define what the base fundamentals of Gor are, and for them to be
accepted and followed. IE: Things like slaves all have the last
answer which is "Yes Master". Slave's calling every free either Master or
Mistress ( it doesn't matter if they like them or think they are or are
not). Slaves did not stand on a street corner pointing fingers at the free
disrespecting them in word. Nor will they get away with it here. In
this gor site, if you come in as a slave then you're choice is easy. Be a
slave or get gone.
Unlike on the fictional planet Gor, people are not
generally brought up knowing or even understanding the depths of
respecting one another ( personally, I see evidence of this everyday out
in our world) they don't understand that slaves are not just submissive,
but are in truth, both extremely subservient and surrendered to the
station of both servitude and being there for use. Online in a rp
setting, a woman can be these things of Gor, and they are expected to do
them if they state they are a slave, fw or panther whatever. Many reality
laws, moralities and some ethics, policies and such are for reality and they do not mix well with the ways and things
of the Gor all the time. But there are parallels, simply
because things like Ethics. Self-integrity, Respect, Honesty,
Steadfastness, Truthfulness and a host of other ethics are all earth
things we know of. The ethics of Gor though, are based on a world, that of
its social way, is a complete slave society governed by the free of each
place on its surface (mostly the male gender). Even the free can be
adopted into slavery. No one is immune in such a society.
All of the above means that there has to be rules made up and enforced, in
order for the above premise to happen, being we are trying to create a
pristine Gorean online world, within a world that Normans defines via the
characters of the books as; the "barbarian world" a world away from a
world Norman shows via characters as being a world destined for genocide.
Now what to some is a touchy issue.
As is stated previously;
the foundation I have for this site, is for it to be a place where order
and not chaos abounds and for G.C.E. to be as Gorean as it can be for and
while online. To have GC.E. a place where an individual can come and get
as real a feel of gor as can be had. Where truth to fiction is desired.
To define what the base fundamentals of Gor are and for them to
be accepted and followed by all G.C.E. citizens.
The truth is, that we live in a world, where laws go against many of the
things we read about in Gor. We all have civil liberties (which is very
debatable these days). We have a constitution, a bill of rights,
amendments to them, laws, rules, policies, free wills, free choice and all
manner of things when all combined, make things hard for Gor (even just
online Gor) to remotely exist, when people try to come around using them
in an attempt to have excuses and reason why they don't or won't do what
is Gorean, it puts a bad seed in place. Most of the time, they are used in online Gor, because the
individual has something happen to them, that is Gorean to do, but don't
like it or they read
the books and decide that they don't like it, or they are a part of that which
may take place in a Gorean setting that they don't like and so, they begin
digging into the hat pulling out things of the afore mentioned items, to
use in order to try and detour that thing or things that happened to them
, which followed what might happen on Gor.
No one made you come into a Gor site, no one made you pick your position,
you did that all of your own free will, but once in this gor site,
whatever your position, you will do Gor completely, no excuses for any
reason.
People you're in a Gor site! You used your freedom of choice to enter it!
Use it to leave as well, if you don't want it and or don't like it. Again! NO
ONE MADE YOU COME TO A GOREAN SITE.
The reality and truth is; that most of the things of online Gor, are more
about the Master and slave ways of Gor than any other thing. But, the Gor
reality way of things, are that slaves are very limited in things, and
that men in an online Gor site, may demand things of you that maybe you
can't really do or maybe even want to do. But there is no need to go off
on the deep end because of it. It is a simple matter of saying something
like: "I'm sorry Master but giving out this or that information I cannot
comply with," He may question further as to the reason and if he does, and
you don't want to answer it or can't, it's again a simple thing to say/type
something like; please Master! You ask of me something I cannot divulge,
do to rt issues or whatever the case may be. He may push, and if he does and won't take no
for an answer or doesn't like your answer, the nice thing about online, is
that you can disappear by simply leaving the room! Though I do discourage
it if at all possible, as that too tends to create other issues not so
good. Now there are a billion scenarios to these types of things, but
again, it's how you behave and handle it all that is important. And you
are to handle it in a Gorean kajira manner while in this Gorean site. If
you can't handle it in the open in a Gorean manner, then take it to a more
private place and handle it. You need not create drama and upset the whole
site over such things. Handle your business. It's yours to handle, not
someone else's. I will not tolerate total anarchy because of any of it.
Order will be maintained.
Why this site came to being
Six or so years ago, in @gor of Hyperchat.com, there was a general
consensus from it's members, that they wanted a more Gorean site and a
place, that had more control than @ gor provided. They wanted a way also,
to identify people as they saw as Gorean predators and suggested that what
was needed, were for I.P. addresses to be shown for a way to identify
trouble makers and a way to be able to enforce things better. At the time,
there was an influx of what are described as Anon, infiltrating people's
mail rooms and spilling what some construed as haltered toward them, and
in general, causing grief overall. This was the motivation for what was
wanted.
Between these two things mentioned above, there was a decision to more
segregate @gor, with arguments basically saying; "well it's already that
way". The idea was to use "alcoves" to this end. I and one other person
argued against it, because in our view, more segregation wasn't at all the
answer to the problems. We figured it would do nothing more than alienate
people further, rather than help @gor as a whole come together, under what
one individual, claimed was a unity. A unified Gorean place. Imagine!
The issues were put forth to the council members of @ gor, and as stated,
the alcove idea got voted in. It wasn't but a few months after this, of
which @ gor started a spiral downfall.
At that time, I decided: okay, the people wanted a place that was more
Gorean, a place where I.P.’s could be seen, and a place where more control
could be had. Yhis too was voted on by the total members of the place. So I and one of my slaves at that time, went to the
management of Cyberhelp Inc. (after we both did research of other
potential server spaces and programming), found out what it would cost to have a site,
and to make a long story short, the money was paid and with the help of my
then slave and a few others, G.C.E was created.
Why the site is set up the way it is.
I'll start off by using a quote from the books.
"One wants a civilization, of course. Civilizations are desirable. One
would wish to have one. But then, again, there are many sorts of
civilizations. Suppose an old order should collapse, or disintegrate, or
be destroyed. What would be the nature of the new order? Surely it need
not be built on the failed model of the old order. That was an experiment
which was tested, and found wanting. It was a mistake. It did not work.
What would the new order be like? Let us hope it would be a sounder order,
one, for once, fully in harmony with nature." (Vagabonds of Gor, p.118-9)
The old order collapsed, the place was abandoned for the most part for
many years, it just now in 2008, some 6 years after it's fall, is now
returning, but sporadically at best. As the quote notes; surely it need
not be built on the failed model (and this site is not built on the failed
model). The software is the same as all other sites, (I had no control
there).
This site isn’t set up to discourage those folks who want a more real feel
of Gor or to learn about Gor from having a Gor place. It is set up the way
it is, to absolutely discourage those types of people who go into Gorean
sites and make little of its ways and its people/members or only want to
play and make Gor something Norman, I'm fairly certain didn't intend it to
be. He intended it to be a world as he wrote it. It is up to the reader
to not only read the words, but to try to perceive it and visualize Gor
the way he wrote it.
The site is set up for Gorean minded people; people who want the mantle of
Gor to stay maintained to as high a level as it can be while online. It
is set up the way it is for a more peaceful existence, and to discourage
those who would come to it and try to dismantle Gor from Normans
fundamental ideals, or to belittle it’s members in word, typed attitude
and behavior. In other words; attempt to commit genocide of the online
Gorean world, specifically G.C.E. Paying members I feel, need a level of
protection and peace. I try to give that to them in G.C.E.
Having said the above, I am well aware that one of the fundamentals, is
that for Gor, there is no one way, but many. But there are fundamentals
that seem to be Gor wide, regardless of the quote one finds in the books
that states there is no one way.
It has come to my attention via a talk I had with a woman known as Elektra
and of which I call friend, that perhaps the reason at present and past,
that no one comes to G.C.E. is because;
|
"most people are concerned or scared that because you have the
power to hold them responsible for their actions and that the
consequences for rping in an un-Gorean manner is very real in G.C.E,
that it scares them away. That they can’t do and get away with the
things that some do in the other Cyber Help Inc. sites where for
example; in jag/gor/soi, all people can do is bitch. You essentially
have the power of the blue flame death. If you boot them, they lose
the money they paid for a membership."
And yes, Elektra knows I am using her words here. |
My reply to her was and remains this if what she said is the reason.
|
When I go to the store to buy something specific, I don’t settle
for anything less than what I want. I think it’d be foolish if I
did. The money I spend isn’t the issue, but the quality and
quantity is. I want the best and most that my money can buy. I won’t
settle for less. I suspect that most people are this way too.
I would not pay money to get on a roller coaster, if I didn’t
like or was afraid of a roller coaster. I wouldn't pay my hard
earned money, no matter what kind of discounted value I could get,
to go to and live in a foreign country if: I didn't agree with that
countries ways and or had no intention of trying to fit in. That
simply makes no sense to do.
This same line of thought follows for a gor site. It makes no
sense to spend any amount of money for a membership into Gorean
specific site, if you don’t nor will accept Gor for what it is. It’s
foolish to spend money just for a hope that you can become a member
and change it to something other than what it is or is intended to
be. In other words…. why would you pay any amount of money in the
first place to a Gor site, if you know you aren’t going to accept
its ways fully or if your intention is other than honorable to that
place? I, the owner of G.C.E, wouldn’t need to ban any one
individual which are trying their best to be and do Gorean things
while in this Gorean site would I?
Besides, the money an individual pays for a membership is so
minimal, that if you were the type I mention here, that would try to
become a member to change Gor and its ways and you did get banned
for some reason, you’d only loose a small amount anyway. You
probably blow more than approximately 0.16666... Cents a day on
something else anyway and that’s all people are spending in a four
month period paying twenty dollars. There are approximately 120 days
in a four month period. .16 cents x 120 = $ 19.20.
So if they/you want Gor, then I have done my level best to
create this site to the best of my ability to be Gor and to give
people a place to be Gorean. And yes, I will maintain it to gor and
yes, if I have to step in, in such a way to actually have to use the
ban function. You can bet the use of it will be justified. The
fundamentals of Gor will be maintained here in G.C.E. And yes, I do
expect anyone wanting to be a member to and of G.C.E. to help
maintain it that way in their ways.
I do not buy into the cliché' comments that "it's my dime my time".
As I have often said:
Sure it's your dime, but don't spend it foolishly. Online, in a gor
site, it's the gorean ways time.
BTW, I have used the ban function one time when I first built
the site in 2002. I was in a discussion with an individual and via
that discussion, words were typed which said basically that I had
no more power here in G.C.E than in any of the other sites in
Hyperchat.com and that because of the rules and ways I have in place
for G.C.E, that it wouldn't work. After some more discussion, I said
they were wrong about my ability to rid the site of an unwanted and
then went on to say that I'd prove it. I then hit the ban button and
poof, they were no more. Now I didn't do it for any other reason,
but to prove it worked to the individual. I even wrote the
individual to let them know this and that the ban had been
immediately removed and was in no way done for a negative reason.
Suffice it to say, the individual was blinded by rage and I made
that individual an enemy that day and they have tried their level
best to slander me from then until now in everyway they can.
An added note to the above; The individual I was having the
discussion with was correct when they stated G.C.E. wouldn't work.
I didn't complete the whole sentence though. The individual meant in
their words, that it wouldn't work for B.D.S.M. type people, being
that the individual and for the larger part, folks of Hyperchat do
come from the b.d.s.m. sites. In that comment, they were correct.
G.C.E. will not work for folks coming from such places with their
pre-conceived ideas that Gor was about nothing more then power
exchanges, submission until a safe word is used, voyeurism and other
such thoughts. Gor is not about any of it.

Gorean's are not stupid. It is difficult to fool them more than once. They
tend to remember...
there would always be the dupes, of one sort or another, and the
opportunists,
and the cowards, with their rationalizations. But, too, I speculated,
there would be
those of Ar to whom the Home Stone was a Home Stone, and not a mere rock,
not a piece of meaningless earth.
About the Owner of G.C.E.
And thus, we have the owner of this site. He has waged through countless
battles of online. He has been fooled, lied to, lied about, been subject
of slander and ridicule. He has endured a type of political murder as
well. Yet still, even having suffered all the indignities and injustices
brought toward him... he still holds gor in his heart and mind.
He does remember those dupes.
Is he Gorean or Gorean like? Aww the question.
He is not unlike Tarl Cabot or Jason Marshall. No his father was not of
Gor like Tarl's was, but he did jump a type of ship (like Jason
Marshall) and went to the pages of Gor.
He's an educated man. A military brat, brought up to well know the ways of
respect and honor and to the when, where and who to implement these very
Gorean values toward. He was in the military himself and well knows the
acts of being enslaved and enslaving people, he well knows the truths of
very real battle and war. He has spent hour upon hour as Tarl did,
questioning himself and others in the study of the world of Gor.
He doesn't believe in the idea of apologizing to a whole online world
unless he does something wrong to the whole of the members of that online
world.
He is not without mistakes in his life and will not take anyone pointing
out to him, the mistakes he well knows he's made. He will not apologize
for his mistakes to anyone whose business of, it is of no concern.
You won't bend him to his knee; many have tried...all have failed.
He believes in the idea of " first, you show respect and then maybe you'll
get some"
Is/was Tarl Cabot Gorean? Is/was Jason Marshall Gorean? Or like the owner
and all others, did they too have to learn how to be?
The owner of this site is as Gorean as the world will allow. As stated, he
has understood Gor, implements it and has a driving passion for it.
No, not sanctimonious anything. It’s just words of the truth. Is he a
perfect human being? Is he the epitome of a Gorean? Is anyone? No, no and
no.
● I The owner of G.C.E. am of the old school ways of Gor. What does
that mean you might ask!
Some of us identified and then tried to define some of the base
fundamentals of Gor and kept to them. We tried to and did identify some of
the virtues, values and ethics that Norman shows that Gorean's held to. We
well understood that the idea Norman showed, were that the moralities of
earth, were more suited to that of slaves more so than of Gorean
Free. We tried to follow this line of thinking and way of behavior, along
with other Gorean ways in things. We identified and then later learned,
that Norman himself said that what we'd identified, were in truth, what he
was showing in the books. Some of us tried to uphold those ideas and we
still do try.
No one will argue that the typed word is nothing more than that. That in
an online situation, any serve, kiss, beating or whatever, isn't really
happening physically to an individual, so its role play too. However,
these things still can be felt mentally and emotionally, by those people
who take ownership and surrender, as a literal faction of their lives,
even if it isn't really physically taking place. In other words, if a man
is displeased with his slave for instance of an example, and he decides to
type out a poke with a slave goad, or spend the time to type out a kurting,
or other means of punishment, it's not the typing of them out that is the
most important, it's not the rping it out that is important, it's not the
misspelling or the grammar used, or the lack of a punctuation mark missing
that is, but rather… it is the infraction of the kajira and the
displeasure of the man that is. Certainly, one need not punish a beast for
the pure masticated and or masochistic pleasers, that some derive from
such behavior. Punishment of Gor comes about because of displeasure, not
because the owner is going to get a woody or some sort of rise out of
doing so. You will not see such things in the books when punishment is
rendered either. While some will equate such typing actions with that of
role-play, it is not always the case. A man most assuredly wants a well
behaved and trained kajira, and if he had his real wants, he certainly
doesn't want to spend his entire time punishing… and a good kajira well
knows this. Is she a cookie cutter human being, is she a Stepford wife (a
woman perfect beyond belief)? Well yes and no! In the books, she is
programmed via her upbringing on what is expected of her as a slave/kajira.
If she is a barbarian, then she is broken down, then reprogrammed (trained
if you don’t like the term reprogrammed) to know and do what is expected
of her as a slave/kajira. In other words, a slave really has little choice
but to be what she is. On the other hand… no she is not a robotic
brainless dweeb like we see of the Stepford wife. The kajira is smart
enough to understand what she is, and smart enough to not have a death
wish. She’s smart enough to know what is expected of her and smart enough
to do it. She well knows, understand and accepts the Gorean consequences
of her position on Gor.
A kajira’s lot isn't easy for most, nor is she that of what you can walk
out your front door on an everyday basis and find in the general
public either. She can be, and is, much more than that, if she is la
kajira or really trying to be one.
When you see in a room something like (and I'll use my life as an example
here) me typing out: "I am a Tarnsman and an outlaw" (Just like Rask was
in the books)! It doesn't mean I am simply role-playing. What it means is,
that I at one time (not today), held what is called by an F.A.A., Recreational
Pilots License. For 14 years, I worked in the aircraft maintenance field.
I also have an undergraduates degree (B.S. and yes, I too think it's a
bull s&*^ degree) in Animal Behavioral Sciences from Arizona State
University. And while I am somewhat an outlaw in certain things in our
world, I'm more to the definition of things, what would more correctly
be termed and defined as, a general non-conformist. If I don't think its
right, you'll play hell getting me to lead it or follow it. We all know
there are no real tarns in the world, but there are real aircraft. And
while I cannot train an airplane or helicopter, I do have good and real
life abilities, experiences and an education to be capable of, and do train,
many different types of animals. In short, it's all metaphor, not mere
fantasy and or role-playing of a fantasy.
● Some comments about another life style.
The very idea that a kajira loves to feel the lash in a masochistic way,
is utterly and totally ridicules and wrong to the Gorean way of thinking.
Norman specifically notes; that this type of thing is "largely absent".
No, not absolutely absent, just majority absent. He goes on to show, that
if she begs to feel the lash, it is often times because she is feeling
unwanted or undesirable. Maybe she feels that she deserves punishment,
because she believes she has not done something a kajira is expected to be
and do, but most likely, is really calling out for attention. Norman shows
this to be true in many passages. He absolutely makes a profound statement,
that such things as the sadomasochistic thrills are absent of Gor and he
defines such acts as “a sickness" to the Gorean way of things. Now what
goes on behind closed doors, is an out of sight, out of mind type
situation. Meaning, that what you do in a private room is your business, but in
the open, it becomes everyone's business. No, not even online are things
always a game or role-play, even if to you, the viewer, can only see the
surface of it.
●
What am I saying?
I'm saying that b.d.s.m. is not in anyway, something Gorean. The b.d.s.m.
way of things isn't near as hard nor harsh nor demanding as the Gorean
way. The B.D.S.M Way has a complete different fundamental they follow. That the Gorean relationship between the male and slave is not at all
a D.s. relationship. Gorean dominance means that the Free... all Free, are
the base dominating force of Gor, not that every free is a Dom by virtue
of anything other than that they are free. It is a relationship of one
owning the other. It is one of an O./s. relationship (if one wants to have
an acronym to place to it). It meaning, Owner/slave. Nothing in any of the
26 books says/reads anything about an owner of a slave having to be a
dominant. Nothing says/reads that an owner has any ability to master
anything. No, even the poorest and most mediocre of a Gorean free can own
a slave. Yes, some may have become more proficient in something more than
another, and the lesser might say, that individual is the master of that
thing. But in my humble opinion, no one (including the fictitious
characters in the books), no matter how good they get at
something, will ever reach full and true mastery. For a humanoid to do that,
would, in my way of thinking, be nothing short of a God. Do you really
think a Gorean man was/is always in complete control of his moods,
emotions, and his total behavior! No, what Gorean's do, is use their
birthrights as men to keep control of his world. What are those
birthrights via Normans views? They are "Command,
pride, and power" and
through these, the male dominates his world and the things in it. No one
knows why on Gor, men hold all the power other than via a legend. But they
do. There is no constant power exchange either, as is in a b.d.s.m.
situation. The Gorean male holds it all and the free women and slaves do
not. In a b.d.s.m. relationship, such is not the truth, there is a
constant power exchange via using safe words in sexual acts, to all manner
of freedoms that Gorean kajira may not, and generally are not allowed. It
simply and utterly is not present in the Gorean idea of things.
● Bottom
line...
I have no doubt people have at least a 4th to 8th grade reading ability.
Studies show that this is the average of most Americans. However, the
proof I have witnessed over the years, shows that even if people can read;
their processing of what they have read, leaves some questioning. What I
will question always, are people's comprehension and perception, even my
own. Am I perfect in this? Not at all, but I do try to at least get to the
bottom line of an issue.
The above is one of these examples. The issue of the Gorean Owner/slave
relationship as opposed by the b.d.s.m. d/s relationship
.
Remember, submission is only one step to Gorean slavery. When a barbarian
is brought to gor, there is nothing in them that is submissive, much less
her being surrendered completely. Through the methods used in the
barbarians reprogramming/training, she will eventually first learn that
she has no choice of getting back to earth, or getting out of the slave pen
and so on. Once that happens, she will submit to the reality that this is
the case, and once that is realized, things will most likely go easier on
her, but until that, all manner of things may take place in punishment
methods. Then it's to the final step, which is to get the barbarian to
surrender everything of her, self to the full will of the free. Now I’ve given
book version of this here and everyone knows that in reality or online,
there is no way any of this can take place. But what can take place, is to
follow your will of self appointed decision/choice to be what you claim,
or at least (if you’re just claiming to rp), be the best damned actress of
a kajira, Free Woman or panther that you can be, or for that matter, if
you are a male, be the best damn actor of a Gorean Free that you can be. .
Yes, all of it is conditional to an individual’s free will online or off,
since there is no way to really make a barbarian girl to fully surrender.
But submission is not slavery, and for online, it is a must to be
submissive at least in the beginning. Gorean slavery (being a kajira), is
achieved at that moment when the individual has decided to give all to the
will of the free completely even if it's for just while online. There is no opting out of it, unless she
wants to pay the price by doing so, which may be; being absolutely dead to
the owner. If you have not or are not willing to be la kajira, then the
label placed upon you is a barbarian. And having such a label placed upon
you, will most likely cause you great pains via all sorts of punishment
methods and it may even include an attempt of demoralizing you,
dehumanizing you, via the typed word. It's not my Gor. It's the one John
Norman wrote about. My Gor/G.C.E. tries to follow this Gor fundamental.
Dead for rt can mean; that the owner simply turns his back on the slave,
sends her out of his life and out into the world and will not acknowledge
her existence in life and certainly, not his personal one online or
otherwise. You say that it's no different than any other relationship
that ends! Well look around you... even those who break up, get
divorced/separate of their own free will, continue to stay in touch or by
law, are forced to stay in touch. And while I know many will think I'm
nuts... I'd personally rather be jailed, rather than to be forced into
anything that is over, or who I have made dead to me in my life. Yes, it's
a harder choice to make, yes it's not a choice others would take, but if a
slave were to try to opt out, I'll oblige her and make her dead to me and
my life. No big deal! To you the reader of this or her (she wasn't kajira
in the first place in my opinion, nor was she trying to really be, if such
a thing wouldn't bother her) maybe not, but to me, it's not only Gorean to
do, it's the right thing to do in order to try and completely rid yourself
and life of someone you don't want in it. Life's too short for it.
● Old Gor
● In the days of old, when people came to a Gor site, they were very
much interested in all aspects of Gor. They read the books and discussed
issues as adults (For the most part that is. There were of course, influxes of
b.d.s.m. thinking, that often times caused turmoil and toward what seemed to be
almost hate debate) and were able to comprehend the world of Gor to a
level not seen by many today. I'm not talking about the small rp nuances
of how to serve basi tea, or what the ratio of free to slave there was
here. I am talking about the basic fundamentals of gor, like a slave
always has the last word in the " Yes Master or Mistress comment" or a
slave may be punished by any free for any reason, or for online, the
general consensus for a online slave, is to use lower case letters for
identification while online, or Punishment can come in all forms and
punishment is a means of controlling.
Many people took what they could of Gor
into their daily lives too, meaning; that when they shut their browsers
down at the end of their internet time, they didn’t shut Gor down. Yes,
there were heated arguments, as would be expected with and in any controversial
subject matter, (especially when discussion was done with those who really
didn't like the truths about Gor), but it was the way of the debates that were different.
They weren't outright slandering and character assassination arguments all
the time. Yes sometimes, when something Gorean was done; such as a man
selling his slave to another man that the slave didn't like, there were
outright verbal wars with those of more the b.d.s.m. way of thinking. To
this day, there are those that insist that saving a kajira, as if they are
Sir Lancelot, is something Gorean's did every time a slave didn't like
something or the mean ole Gorean man did something the slave didn't like. Somehow they
also insisted that the idea of Gor was that it was okay
to permeate the affairs of another man’s way and life. It is why I have
always told people to get rid of their normal way of thinking when
entering a Gorean place. They don't fit.
● An elaboration on discussions:
Most often, the subject matter was addressed and
not so much the individual that wrote it. The Gorean like people at the
time, were not on-line to use other Gorean citizens failings or misunderstandings of a subject
matter to belittle them or try a character assassination of the individual
as is seen in the other Gorean sites in Hyperchat. Yes, people were
corrected if they were wrong and debates ensued and yes, some times, out
right intellectual wars ensued. But, good and decent people didn’t resort to outright
slander or character assassination of the other individual as is seen in
many sites these days. If someone did try that, they had a whole site to
deal with (well at least from those of us who well understood the Gorean
way). Sure, as it is with any society, you’re going to have people not liking
other people, but back then, unlike today, people kept their opinions of
their dislikes mostly to themselves or to those close to them that they
could trust to keep a lid on things. They saw no real reason to go to a
discussion cork or talk in a room specifically to vomit bile toward
someone they didn’t care for, as is seen in the Gor sites today. Of
course, from time to time, one of those predators would show up and try
what they could, where they could, (no site is completely immune to them)
and we would fight them and try to run them off. Also there were a hand
full of people as well, that somehow garnered a following and for a
time had some respect even from myself that were not Gorean even while
online that did some pretty nasty and underhanded disrespectful things.
Like when an election would come around and a candidate was on the voting
docket, that their particular group didn't want to be voted into the
position, would and did decide to purchase more accounts, in order to sway
the vote away from that individual. There was no way in place at the time
that would insure that a citizen would have but just their one vote. So a
group would get together, purchase how ever many accounts they could
afford, and use those accounts as extra voting against the individual.
While this might be something agreed with in our world by most, it was and
would have been something to take lives over in a Gorean world if it took
place. So no, not even some of those of Old Gor were Gorean minded,
acting or behaving.
There were no real swords as were in the novels, but there was a type of
sword, in that some men, despite their differences, would defend the Gorean
fundamentals and ideals. It kind of went alone this line of thought from
the books. Two men who would slay each other over a piece of land, would
join together do defend Gor and it's ways.
Most men of old Gor, held to the fundamentals ideals of Gor as much as
they could too. It wasn't so much a player type thing as it was a more
real type thing that took place I suppose. Yes, there was some rping going
on of course, but not to or at the level of trying to create a type of D&D
game as many people try to do in a gamer site. Or not to the level of
where everyone got nuts about trivial pursuit things like what weapon was
used for this or that, or how was basi tea was shown to be served. While
those are important things for rping, they aren't for Gor fundamentals.
There was a site wide council of which was voted in by the members of
the Gorean online world. Their job was; to put issues forth for people to
vote on; to help the site become a better Gorean place, when it was
thought that it might be needed in a certain area. Yes, at times, there
was turmoil over some of those issues too... both in the open between the
members and council and behind the council room doors. But all in all, it
was a Good Place.
There was an attempt at a unity to wit; the whole Gorean online world
was cared about by everyone and each home was defended by their owners.
Yes, there were some folks from the b.d.s.m. community, who somehow
figured that getting involved into the affairs of another man's business,
was somehow Gorean right and it isn't and wasn't. It wasn't long before
some of us stepped in to let Mr. Barbarian know, that interfering into the
relationship of an owner and his property, was of no concern of his and
that it didn't matter, if the other sold his slave to someone she didn't
like or killed her (banned her from his existence). That he was not Sir
Lancelot and the slave, was not Queen Guinevere.
Slaves behaved as slaves in every place, and some men made
attempted to try and make sure they did.
If they didn’t, there was a price to pay and if they didn’t follow their
punishment/price to pay, they were gotten rid of. Free Women as a
generality, deferred to men and it was often iterated, that they made sure
they realized that their freedom was in peril at all times, via the
sharpened word and that just because we allowed them the freedom, we, as a
combined group of men, would take it away at whatever cost it took. Yes,
sometimes you’d see one come along thinking they were the equal of a man,
but it wasn’t long before men changed her mind in that area quickly.
● Kajiras (no not submissives... submission is a mere rank or level to
surrender, which is what a kajira ultimately does) were not allowed (yes I
said; NOT ALLOWED) to get into heated debates in the various corks or
discussion forums with the free; where the free involved themselves in
such matters of debate. Just like in the books, slaves did not instruct or
teach the free at any time (at least not in public view). Even in the
discussions, no matter where they where online, most all free of the time,
fully expected their property to maintain themselves as the slaves they
claimed they were while online, and that the collar they wore, was heavier
than the sum of its mere material parts or mental and emotional parts. In
other words, the slave’s collar carried the weight of the honor of her
owner as well as other things. The way she behaved and acted via the typed
word, was a direct reflection of and toward her owner. A free could lose
some or all of his respect, therefore his honor, simply by the behavior
and online actions of his property. This was brought about because, every
slave it was felt, needed to be taught exactly how to behave online in
Gor. If an owner didn't heed this responsibility of ownership, it showed
up in the behavior and action of his beast. Who or what did the teaching
wasn't an issue, but that she was taught was. If she came out, like she
felt she was the equal of a free and started via her typed word, a
perceived belittlement, attempted character assassination of a free or was
trying to chide them in public, with the use of RT laws that benefited
her, she was dealt with by any free that saw it. Not only was she dealt
with, but someone would let the owner know (not that it was a requirement,
but rather it might be a respecting thing to do), if he didn't know about
it. More often than not, the property owner took care of the problem. If
he didn't, then it became an issue that needed to be dealt with, because
simply put, his lack of discipline with his property, didn't stay in line
with the base fundamentals of slave behavior or Gorean free behavior with
slaves.
The sword online at that time was; The typed words of the free, and
from such debates, understanding and knowledge was learned and gained by
all, and a Gor was built by the saying of Gor, which states that; “first
comes the sword, then laws”. After so many years of Gor being cut to
pieces, it's now law that rules.
Goreans are not stupid. It is difficult to fool them more than once. They
tend to remember... there would always be the dupes, of one sort or
another, and the opportunists, and the cowards, with their
rationalizations. But, too, I speculated, there would be those of Ar to
whom the Home Stone was a Home Stone, and not a mere rock, not a piece of
meaningless earth.
I could continue on to a level of nausea still, (some would say that
by now, I have!) But suffice it to say, that the Gor of old, was much more
than what you see in most Hyperchat gorean sites today. I have not
forgotten much of anything. G.C.E. is a Home-Stone for Gorean minded
people. For people to have a place IF: They wish to help maintain Normans
Gor to as high a mantel and they can.
The whole point is; that old school gor was as Gorean as some of us could
make it. With me, that way remains. If you think what I have said here
isn't Gorean to do, then you don't understand nor accept Normans Gor,
because everything I typed, can be paralleled with the books.
And a Gorean place isn't or shouldn't be evaluated by its population or
lack thereof, like I said above, but rather; by its populations merit to
uphold the Gorean umbrella to as high a mantel and expectation of what
Norman wrote as they can.
If you visit the site and find it unpopulated, it isn't my fault. I have
given people what they said they wanted. The rules are in place for the
reasons I've notated. Those that don't like them will choose to move on.
I want good and decent people in G.C.E., not predators, liars.
manipulators and cheats.
Maybe one might think about that when they see it's not populated here.
Yes, it could simply be because I am well hated by many and it most likely is
the reason. But it also could be, that it also shows how many truly decent
people there are not on the net these days. Good people |
